Creative Explorations
Through a holistic teaching approach, we helped students from schools of all levels explore the ideas and concepts of sustainability creatively. We are constantly amazed by the ways young minds interpret these concepts in new ways. Please enjoy these incredible expressions of Passive House Building Science.
Design Works High School
Along with Pratt Center for Art, Design, & Community Engagement K-12, PHFE brought lessons about Passive House to the ninth graders. In addition to exploring creatively with models and drawings, the students also participated in an Ice Cream Box Challenge to create energy-efficient containers using the principles of Passive House to keep ice cream from melting. This was inspired by the Pratt Ice Box Challenge.
Boys & Girls High School
PHFE has collaborated with the Boys & Girls HS multiple times, with the support of their amazing teachers and administrators. For several years now, each class of students has found new ways of interpreting PH principles, learning from their peers in the grade above.
Pratt Institute
During the spring of 2023, PHFE founder, In Cho, taught a seminar on Passive House to Pratt Architecture students. The students explored PH through collage, poetry, and body movement, creating a solid knowledge base for them to create a high-efficiency design to participate in the Ice Box Challenge, an ongoing competition comparing PH buildings with their less efficient counterparts.
